Maintenance |
|
 |
Maintaining a Polytan artificial pitch is a proven, economical and straightforward operation!
|
| |
The maintenance instructions issued by Polytan for artificial pitches were adopted by UEFA as a key part of the general maintenance guidelines for a common standard of artificial pitch maintenance, above all in order to guarantee their consistently good playing ability.
New-generation monofibre artificial football pitches from Polytan which are in-filled with rubber, such as the FIFA reference pitch at 1.FC Kaiserslautern shown below, permanently retain their good playing ability if the recommended maintenance using rotating front-sweeping machines is followed. Maintenance is fast, straightforward, and involves notably modest expenditure:

By contrast with other pitch surfaces, e.g. fibrillated (slit) types of surface, with Polytan monofibre pitches (using unslit individual blades) the blades of artificial grass are easily realigned in an upright, standing position using rotating brushes.
This guarantees a permanently open, non-matting surface, which ensures its outstanding playing qualities – and not just when the pitch is new.

The especially important qualities, such as the way the ball runs, the bounce of the ball, the give of the ground and the very good turning and sliding movements for players are maintained practically at the same high standard throughout the entire lifetime of the pitch.
Polytan pitches do not need watering and always stay green.
|
The maintenance procedure for Polytan monofibre pitches has been tested and proven in practice, and does not require experimentation with different types of brush construction.
This is intended to prevent premature splitting of the strands in the pitch, because when slit artificial pitch blades are brushed as part of the essential maintenance they can split, producing what is called a shadowing effect (pockets of matted blades caused by splayed fibres). (click here for photographs demonstrating shadowing)
Even only a few weeks after being newly-installed, pitches of this type can become patchy and uneven. The playing qualities diminish dramatically and the playing surface becomes flat, matted and unattractive.
Polytan’s monofibre artificial pitch systems with ACS (Anti Compaction System) prevent premature wear and thus ensure not only lasting playing quality, but also the lasting value of the investment. |
